Remember when Google was good?

Today Google launched themes on the homepage. I went for a bus stop, lovely don't you think?

Why? Because I can.

But it got me thinking about why I started using Google in the first place. It was nothing to do with it's clever algorythm or world-beating adwords programme. It's because it was fast and easy to use.

I can forgive the seasonal versions of the logo, they make you feel all warm at Christmas when Santa is there helping you find Amazon.co.uk (Yes, I use Google to find sites I know off by heart). But it's gone too far.

Keep it real, reclaim the white!

Sleeping

Claire: I had a rubbish sleep last night
Eric: Yeah, it was cold…
Claire: No, it wasn’t that, I’ve got a really good duvet actually
Eric: Oh
Claire: Yeah, it was expensive, but it’s worth it
Eric: Was it noisy?
Claire: No, we stay on like the quietest street, it’s just the best
Eric: Ok
Claire: Yeah, everyone always says how quiet it is
Eric: Do they?
Claire: Oh yeah, it’s great
Eric:
Claire: And we’re on the top floor so we don’t have anyone above us
Eric: That’s… good
Claire: Yeah it’s just a brilliant flat
Eric: Uh Huh
Claire: It’s lovely and peaceful, everyone says so
Eric:
Claire: It wasn’t cheap tho, but it was worth it
Eric: Is that right?
Claire: Yeah, you wouldn’t believe how much it was actually
Eric: I’m sure I wouldn’t
Claire: How much do you think it was?
Eric: I don’t know
Claire: Go on, guess
Eric: No
Claire: It was £550,000
Eric: Oh
Claire: That’s a lot isn’t it?
Eric: I suppose so
Claire: But it’s worth it, you know, to have something nice
Eric: I see
Claire: I always have a great sleep in our flat
Eric: What about last night?
Claire: I had a great sleep
Eric: Aye, whatever!

Last Night

Claire: What did you do last night?

Eric: Not much, just watched some TV

Claire: I had the best night out!

Eric: Did you?

Claire: Yeah, I was out with Jessica, we always have the craziest nights out!

Eric: Do you…

Claire: You probably think I’m mad going out during the week!

Eric: Not really…

Claire: Yeah, all my friends say I’m just bonkers!

Eric: Do they…

Claire: We were drinking cocktails, it was wild!

Eric: Uh, huh

Claire: Oh, and when we left the bar some people were standing at a bus stop!

Eric: So…

Claire: I mean, it was freezing, why didn’t they just get a taxi? Bizarre!

Eric: Well…

Claire: God, the guy in the chip shop must have thought we were just barmy!

Eric: Why?

Claire: I mean, we made him to put the sauce UNDERNEATH the chips!

Eric: That’s…interesting

Claire: I know!

Training

Jim: Can you finish that report?

Karen: No, I’ve not had my training

Jim: Have you not been using the system for a while now?

Karen: Aye, but I’m not trained, I don’t know what I’m doing

Jim: You finished that other report alright

Karen: I know, but the formatting was all funny

Jim: It looked ok to me

Karen: No, it was all weird

Jim: Fair enough, I’ll arrange some training

Karen: Thanks

Jim: It’ll be next week, is that ok?

Karen: That’s fine; I’ll work on the report till then

Jim: I thought you needed to be trained

Karen: Aye, I’ll do what I can till the training

Jim: Is that the training finished?

Karen: Yeah, it was boring, I knew it all already

Jim: Can you finish that report now?

Karen: Oh yeah, no problem

Who's got the best lunch?

Eric: What have you got for lunch?

Claire: I’ve got a ham sandwich

Eric: Oh, I’ve just got some left over pasta

Claire: Yeah, its really good ham tho. You know, the carved stuff

Eric: Is it? Oh right

Claire: I prefer the carved stuff, it’s just better, you know

Eric: I suppose so

Claire: I never buy the cheap stuff

Eric: Right…

Claire: Yeah, it’s more expensive, but you can taste the difference

Eric: Yeah…

Claire: It’s probably organic too; the good stuff’s always organic

Eric: Is that right?

Claire: Yeah, I always buy organic, it’s just better isn’t it

Eric: I suppose

Claire: And it’s better for the planet and everything too

Eric: Yeah

Claire: I like to do my bit, so I always buy the expensive stuff

Eric: Good for you

A little play about the office

Jim: Are you finished yet?
Karen: No, I've just made a mess of it
Jim: Made a mess of what?
Karen: That thing I was working on, I'll need to do it again
Jim: How did you manage that?
Karen: Oh, I was rushing. Don't worry about it, I'll just do it again
Jim: Isn't that the thing Colin was working on?
Karen: Yeah, he got it to work alright
Jim: Do you think he did something to it?
Karen: No, he wouldn't do anything like that
Jim: Sarah said he messed that thing up last week
Karen: Did he?
Jim: Yeah, made a right mess
Karen: Do you think he messed my thing up?
Jim: Probably
Karen: What a bastard
Jim: I know
Karen: And he didn't even say anything
Jim: I know
Karen: I've never liked him you know
Jim: Me neither
Karen: What should I do?
Jim: Lets steal everything off his desk
Karen: Yeah, lets go
